Weird convergence in my life: using #acoustictelemetry 🐟🦑 tracking principles to hunt down public surveillance devices the city won't release to FOIA requests.

I triangulate fish for my day job (niche); when we set out receivers to listen/position, a "sawtooth" pattern works the best. It seems the Ravens are set out to position targets. If you want to find more devices look in areas that are holes in the sawtooth pattern. I've circled a couple on your map.

Happy to share another paper from my PhD was published recently - covering 2 chapters! Using hidden Markov models and step selection functions to analyse fine-scale acoustic telemetry data and then predict spatial usage from model output 🐟 #trackingnotslacking

Curious if I can throw this at fish positions and vessel AIS data. Right now Atl. sturgeon vessel interaction is based on supposition from carcasses and labor-intensive side-scan sonar data. Could be useful to have something slightly less labor-intensive #acoustictelemetry #trackingnotslacking 🧪🐟🦑

Lesser spotted dogfish showed high site fidelity, returning to the windfarm after a few weeks of absence, suggesting that the habitat at this site is suitable for the species 🌊

Here's my take on a Linux wrapper for Innovasea's Fathom Connect software. Seems to work fine on Ubuntu 24.04 for converting vdat files to csv.
