Nope, no and no again.

Spare me special pleading for ‘resets’, ‘rebuilding’ or ‘renewing’ the transatlantic alliance.

Happy #kidlitartpostcard day! I'm an author/published illustrator. I love creating expressive characters getting into hijinks and mischief. I love creating cozy worlds for readers to inhabit. Rep'd by Elizabeth Bennett, Transatlantic. www.laurazarrin.com.

As fellow Europeans celebrate the Democrats' gains in the US midterms, a word of caution:

it would be a grave mistake to read this blue wave as a path back to the old transatlantic relationship.

That era is over, and for good.

I need to get exceptionally rich so transatlantic flights aren't like. A once in a lifetime treat.

The old transatlantic relationship is over. That is a good thing. We need to build a new, healthier, balanced and constructive relationship between equals. But that will not be decided in the US ballot box, but by the European ability to reform.

It would be a grave error for Europeans to assume Democratic resurgence in US augurs a restoration of the old transatlantic relationship.

Imagine describing a willingness to apologise for the transatlantic slave trade as a “shock stance”.

Not the enslavement nor the exploitation.

Certainly not the millions of lives devastated.

No, no - the suggestion that perhaps we should say sorry.

Extraordinary editorial priorities.
