Seven years ago today we finished our utterly bonkers coast to coast to coast to coast to coast ride, all because we couldn't decide which coast-to-coast route to ride. So many tales from this one trip, perhaps especially pre-dawn breakfast with the Whitby trawlermen still in their oilskins

There was a poster in our local chippy years ago that had a photo of intrepid trawlermen hauling up cod from a rough sea. In tribute to the fish, it was captioned “Leaping and flashing! Lean and alive!”

Ahhh, my father's family were all trawlermen. He was never going to be allowed on them as his eyesight was so poor he could hardly see his hands without spectacles on

Ahhh, my father's family were all trawlermen. He was never going to be allowed on them as his eyesight was so poor he could hardly see his hands without spectacles on

I have twice had eyewitness reports of some trawlermen who live in Aberdeen and fish out of Newlyn and commute on this train. I have met someone highly reliable who tells me he has met them personally. Please can one of the journos on this train on Friday find these famous fishermen.
