A trio of triolets
The triolet is a form I enjoy going back to. There's something satisfying about the repetition, slightly altered so that the second and third time sound intentional rather than simply an easy way of using up the eight lines. These are for the sudden change in the weather from late summer to early winter. Thankfully, the cold, damp, misty weather is ending, for the moment.

Love how the triolets give way to a much larger, increasingly mysterious story.

And what an unsettling revelation at the end!

Wonderful write, Stefanie!

I've always loved repeating sounds, but not repeating words, so triolets and their brethren usually pass me by. However, I am intrigued by the subtle variations in your "repeated" lines - bringing life to the form. Something I obviously need to reconsider. Thanks ! 😀

I'm pleased you approve! I saw some of Thomas Hardy's triolets used as examples of the form, which apparently ought to incorporate a slight change of emphasis/mood in the repetitions. It ought to be in iambic tetrameter too, but the 'difficult' rules are often left out for contemporary poets.

Now you have done five triolets, all flawless in form! Perfectly seasonal, beautifully Gothic, triumphantly tripled. 👏👏👏💛💛💛

Thank you! I goofed on my earlier reply. TLDR: I also adore triolets.

@trioletjam.bsky.social I have only ever done two #triolets before and I struggled, so I am not quite sure what possessed me to try your #TrippleTriolet challenge!!

Anyway, I am immersed in Wuthering Heights at the moment, so this is what came out of your great prompt 😊

Three triolets 🤭

I’ve never attempted something like that. Are all three stanzas separate triolets joined together by the theme? Or are you supposed to repeat lines one and two throughout all three stanzas? 🤔

I was thinking about doing triolets, but this is better than what I could do for this challenge. Perfect, Dave! ☺️💜

Thanks, mate! 💛I don't know what it is about triolets that makes me want to lean into nursery themes 😂

Now I’m having to stop myself from flooding my timeline with triolets I’ve written offline. I am officially obsessed. #poetry #triolet

I discovered the Triolet, French poetry format years ago and fell in love with it.
It can be really addictive & super fun!

✨So I took the plunge and created a prompt account for triolets✨

Prompts start tomorrow and I really hope you give it a go, it’s a challenge for the brain!

In a show-stopping performance of “Downhill Triolets,” award-winning poet and Narrative Prize winner Natalie Diaz uncorks the deep love and pathos in her brother’s story.

On September 30 the next Narrative Prize winner will be announced. Stay tuned!

Formenton and Edmonton rhyme though, so way better for sonnets, limericks and triolets. Very underrated by the "hockey elites" and their fancy stats like goals, assistants and playing time.

And I love cookies almost as much as triolets! 😉
