Enypniastes eximia, a deep-sea sea cucumber recorded at 1095 m during #DeepWonders expedition. We see how this graceful gelatinous gem earned the nickname Spanish dancer. Look how their tubefeet glide across the seafloor, scooping up nutritious marine snow as the animal swoops up into the water.

Brittle star (maybe Ophiothrix sp) in tidepools on king-tide near batstar nursery on my spineless meanders. Those tubefeet!

Urchins are known for their spines, but they have another special adaptation: tubefeet, the tiny tendrils between the spines. Each “foot” can expand and contract, anchoring the urchin in place, pulling it across the seafloor, and passing food to its mouth.

Me too Steve. I still recall the one on how tubefeet work in starfish. Eventually I became an associate lecturer for the OU. Helping others with no qualifications to gain a degree was one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever done. The OU remains one of our finest achievements.

Why is Tubefeet afraid of protesters?

One can think of them as "upside down starfish who pluck food particles out of the water with their tubefeet"

EVEN MORE FUN Nucal crest I count 4 very large/long unfused dorsal papillae. Continuous with body and with obvious water-vascular lumen. Question as to whether these are truely super w-v tubefeet or coelomic pockets. I vote water vascular.
Nodules may keep fresh detritus out of the old mud.

ID just to phylum can be hard for video observation of deep animals. Okeanos Explorer ~2200m, Sangihe Talaud Region EX1004L2 Dive 10 logged "nudibranch". Archival HD video reveals holothuroid-like papillae and tubefeet!
