It's the start of #Twelvetide AKA the 12 Days of Christmas. Each day is said to equate with a month in the coming year so is perfect for a spot of divination. Here's today's, corresponding with January. I'm taking it as a good omen! Join me for a divine-along & post your predictions in the replies!

It reads: 16 December With so much to do in the run-up to Christmas, it’s easy to overlook preparations for Twelvetide, the twelve days between Christmas and Twelfth Night. There is much debate over the actual dates of the twelve days, with some starting their partridges-in-a-pear-tree count on Christmas Day, and others preferring to defer to Boxing Day.* While Twelvetide was traditionally viewed as a time for feasting and revelry, it was also considered an important period for divination as it’s said what happens on each day predicts what will happen during its corresponding month. So, for the sake of argument, if Twelvetide starts on Boxing Day, then the predictions on 26 December relate to January, 27 December to February, and so on. Different types of divination can be utilised during this time, including the weather, Tarot cards, your feelings, dreams and bibliomancy. All of which will call for some sort of method of recording if you want to refer back to the results as the new year progresses. So ensure you have a notebook handy, or you could even create a spreadsheet to jot down your findings. You may also want to start hoarding mince pies, for it’s said that should you eat a mince pie with a toast of ‘Happy Month!’ on each of the twelve days, you will have twelve happy months ahead of you.

Well, they're all part of Twelvetide, or the 12 Days of Christmas ramping up, not to New Year's Eve, but to 12th Night on 5 or 6 Jan (depending on your interpretation of Eve/Day/Night). Then the 28th is Childermas, which is considered by some the most unluckiest day of the year. I could go on...

This is a Mongolian Mary, a bloody Mary with a sheep's eye in it. The picture is a cup filled with dark liquid with a sheep's eye floating in the centre with a sprig of celery poking out the top. Great for hangovers, so it's said.
