It's been a long time since I've had Memo's when they were he 24-hr joint off of The Ave in the UDistrict. Even then, I considered them a fast-food version of the Azteca Restaurants in the region.
For me, it satisfies a specific version and level of quality of Mexican food appetite.

For University District.... Hey Bagel in UVillage, Cricket Club for modern Indian, Portage Bay Cafe for brunch, Little Duck for Chinese. The Eater article on the UDistrict options is quite good.

Depends where you are! Downtown, drivers are so distracted waiting for their confused GPS to update that you can never tell if they're paying actual attention, so lights are the safer bet. In the UDistrict tho? HORDES of college students thinking they're invincible just wandering across any road
