Meghan Haters: She’s so unrelatable. She uses wildly expensive cookware. I mean who is going to spend $300 on a pan?

LeCrueset: Sorry, we don’t have that pan anymore. It’s completely sold out due to demand from the Meghan show.

Defensive writing in journalism is so different than defensive writing in fiction but both produce feckless, unrelatable works

I haven’t watched Meghan Markle’s show and I suspect that it is unrelatable because the lives of all incredibly wealthy people are unrelatable. But the coverage of the show looks like a witch hunt, and I find that far more concerning.

i think all the time about how trump is one of the most singular, atypical people in america, whose entire life experience, going back at least him as a teenager, is so profoundly different from and unrelatable to almost anyone, including his own social class peers
something you have to understand about Trump & his weird comments about the economy is that the dude hasn't paid for anything like a normal person in decades - never pumps gas, never buys groceries - so he's completely & utterly out of touch with what life is like for most of us

Also: “The reverse culture shock was acute. I discovered that people don’t ask about your travels because the experiences are too unrelatable.”

No. It’s not unrelatable, it’s that stories of other people’s travels are *incredibly* and *unremittingly* boring. Utterly dull. Mindblowingly dull.

It's been strange to find such a common critique of Nolan totally unrelatable, lol. I think the writing is fine!! Makes me wonder if there's something other people hear in dialogue that I don't.
Rewatched The Odyssey, and as someone semi-frequently praised for her dialogue, I strongly disagree the dialogue in this movie is bad. It rarely goes beyond functional, but it doesn’t need to be more than that. A richly poetic script would throw off the film’s equilibrium.

The role "the Epstein files" have played on the public consciousness is to transform sexual abuse from a societal problem that we all have to collectively grapple with to a baroque conspiracy committed by faraway, unrelatable villains that you get to righteously fantasize violence against.
this is basically vulgar Making Up Guys to Get Mad At but it's a little brain melting for the continual cover-up of the epstein files to be one of the largest news stories of the year at the same time as the shitty michael jackson hagiography breaks box office records

Conversely, why have 'good guys' become so cringe, so unrelatable, so one-note? Bc 'good guys' are historically portrayed as rule-followers. Law-abiders. Both-sides-ers. For the last few decades, that means that the 'good guys' end up defending the same broken system *that produces the villains.*
