This repo is for paper reproduction for improving code generation in three steps: (1) Sample solutions from the frozen model at non-unit temperature, (2) Fine-tune on those raw, unverified outputs via standard cross-entropy,

SpaceX began requiring verification of Starlink terminals on Feb. 4, blocking unverified Russian units from accessing its services. Almost immediately, Ukrainian eavesdroppers heard Russian soldiers complaining about the failure of “Kosmos” and “Sinka” — apparently code names for Starlink

I'm sorry, is this dude talking about having a third party LLM generate unverified and untested code that he can execute to access the site he's a programmer for?

Am I fucking hallucinating?

Translated -Security analysts report that the official White House app uses insecure "shortcuts" that put your privacy at risk. It tracks your precise GPS location every few minutes, sends your data to third-party companies, and runs code from unverified personal websites.

It's wild to watch tech bros convince coders:

"This tool will copy code off the internet, unverified, untested, THEN randomize parts of it. You want to use this in your code base to save effort. Trust me bro."

This is like the surgeon saying they'll put random things in your body, it'll be great.

This take is memory-holing so much of the history of ads. Ads were huge security vulnerabilities (unverified code running on your computer installing drive-by downloads). They also were (and still are) just flat-out anti-user hostility. I grew up in the era of printed newspapers & evening TV news...
7/ The second thing that there used to be ads. Two things happened to the ads. The first is that the tech platforms slowly rebuilt and then took control of the pipes of the ad business and because of that were able to take most of the profits to themselves. The second and even bigger …

On Friday, tech website 404 Media reported that the government website could be edited by virtually anyone, as its source code accessible on most websites through a right-click within a web browser enabled people to make modifications to it.

Hackers are exploiting unverified smart contracts, costing over $36.7M in 6 months! Tools like AI make it easier to find weaknesses. Protocols: Verify source code, audit, run bug bounties & on-chain monitoring to stay safe. #blockchain #cybersecurity

You hear similar things in the software development world, but when anyone actually tried to measure the productivity gains form using AI, the results are usually very underwhelming. That is just productivity, BTW, never mind the ticking time-bomb of having unverified slop code in your system.

Like, objectively speaking, I understand that it's not significantly more susceptible to malicious code or supply chain attacks than, say, an npm package, but also, a million package managers and you decided to go with "an unverified bash script"? 🤨 Kinda' sus, bruh.

Oh cool, Ollama on Windows has unpatched vulnerabilities that lead to Ollama downloading unverified updates from a malicious URL if set locally, and also a path traversal vulnerability leads to arbitrary file write.

Musk's brilliant idea of rate limiting unverified users to 600 posts per day. Nearly completely broke Twitter.
He killed external embeds and started to suppress unverified accounts.
And we started to organize invite code distribution to the bluer skies.

c'mon, wouldn't you be at least a little tempted to paste some unverified sketchy code from the internet directly into your run command?

Thread on the idea OnlyFans was based on code stolen from a sex worker, something I both believe on one level and also have never been able to track down past pretty sketchy unverified claims.

One of those unsolved mysteries I've periodically poked at for almost a decade now! A modern urban legend.
I've never been able to exactly verify this, but I'm pretty sure the original claim was Lindsey Leigh and Follow+. When researched previously (like in real time a decade ago) they both were very very derivative of Patreon and existing clip store "fan clubs".
Who else remembers that Onlyfans was stolen from the original developer who was a sex worker?

Oh and who wants to post links to articles etc?

If you have ever seen any PL/SQL code, you already know Ada.

If you have ever seen any Pascal code, you have a good enough idea of what Ada looks like.

(Disclaimer: I know PL/SQL, but I never programmed with Ada; take my unverified claims with a grain of salt.)
