The only winning move is not to play. If I say something is illegal, people tell me laws don't matter unless they're enforced (No shit? I dropped out of law school bcuz it made me too acutely aware of how many laws aren't enforced!), but if I suggest that maybe we should enforce the law, I'm naïve.
Me: Laws are made up and don't actually bind anyone except by the fiat of the most immediate enforcer. They can all be nullified by about 11 people agreeing they shouldn't work.
Others: WOW! Nihilist much? 🙄
Me: The laws of the United States say X.
Others: Since when do the laws matter?

UPDATE: Texas officials knew about this issue since at least March, when it was flagged by a state lawmaker.
‼️ Weeks before midterms, Texas election officials have discovered that an unknown number of voter registration applications havent been processed due to an error by the DPS. The Texas Association of County Elected Officials say number could be "tens of thousands" - much of them in urban areas.

Frankly, the only thing I tend to question my doctor on is prescription drugs.
A joint study by Yale University and George Mason University found that those who are disengaged, doubtful, or dismissive of climate change tend to highly trust healthcare providers on the subject — even more than public officials from agencies like NASA and news organizations. (Published 2025)

Leveraging trust built over time, doctors hope to depolarize the issue and break through misinformation.

About 50 people crammed into the court room to hear the decision, which took Murray 10 minutes to deliver. Applause broke out as she stood, with people openly crying from relief, from happiness, from feeling like someone in power understood the urgency of the crisis.
Justice Murray declared part of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act unconstitutional, and trafficking convictions for Drug User Liberation Front co-founders Eris Nyx and Jeremy Kalicum have been stayed.

Texas waking up the entire state every time a cop gets hurt will advance the defund the police movement more than any protest will.
blue alerts (statewide texas emergency alerts, that blow up your phone the same way as a tornado warning any time a cop gets hurt) are fucking infuriating

this is not an emergency

you can not wake an *entire state* up because one of your boys got an ouchie

fuck you. nobody fucking cares.

A thing I learned not too long ago is that when an LLM selects a token that leads it down an incorrect path (factually), it has no way to back up, or even know that it should back up, it's just on to the next likely bit. Literally every LLM is just posting their way through it. What an image.
The problem is even more fundamental. LLMs do not understand causation or logic. They only understand correlation. Which means, even with full token context, they will always have the chance to hallucinate.

anyway, if dems brought Nader in before he's on the ballot or made an effort to court Nader voters, there might be room to complain. but if a candidate gets votes by appealing to a segment of the political spectrum that you won't touch and in fact scoff at, then in what world are those your votes?

Every college in this country decided that expelling and/or sending the police to beat the shit out of their own students for the crime of being opposed to genocide was their top priority. That and giving Trump complete control of what they teach. Contrast that with how they treat rapists.
