Meanwhile, BHP halted operations at its Escondida copper mine in Chile after a worker was killed onsite, adding to market concerns. The Australian dollar slipped to its lowest level since early August, further impacting market sentiment. Energy sector stocks rallied in New York, while communication services led losses across 10 of 11 sectors. The global economic outlook remains uncertain as bond yields continue to climb, with implications for both equity markets and monetary policy decisions.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reached a market capitalisation of over $US1 trillion, becoming the fourth chipmaker to achieve this milestone, joining Nvidia, Broadcom, and Micron Technology. AMD's share price increased by 8.6 per cent in afternoon trading. Bitcoin also showed strong momentum, surging towards $US86,000, with positive ETF flows contributing to this upward trend. The market movements reflect broader global economic trends, including shifts in technology investment and energy markets. The Australian market is poised to benefit from these international developments, particularly in the technology and energy sectors.
