Nearly all USCG officers are USCGA grads. It is not a large community. And it is *very* tight knit. CG bases are also *tiny.*

🚨🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS: Was just passed this from a fellow service academy grad. A Coast Guard Academy graduate posted this. They are reporting that ICE entered base housing and took a USCG spouse. I can’t confirm this but I’m calling for answers from the Coast Guard and Congress. This is unacceptable.

The USCGA is one of the 4 service academies affected. Under 14 USC 1903(D), one duty of the Board of Visitors is to review issues related to DEI w/r/t recruitment and retention. In this case, I anticipate that the "review" from new Trump appointees will be a blanket "no."

Was USCGA and USCG then USAF years ago and can confirm the Coast Guard is a very tight knit community, very different (and better) than the big services.

I will say that the academies don't actually provide most of the officers (USCGA excepted).
And the congressional selection mechanism always lent itself to disproportionate evil (going back to the founding of the academies).
But losing the ring knocker network is *real* bad.
