It shouldn't take a genius to realize that most people killed by UXO tend to be killed by UXO that's left by an invading power because they don't care to do things like keep records of where they left them

So, fun fact: there's KNOWN UXO from WW2 all over London. Stuff that was buried over as it was too tricky to remove during the Blitz as everyone was kinda busy.

So, fun fact: there's KNOWN UXO from WW2 all over London. Stuff that was buried over as it was too tricky to remove during the Blitz as everyone was kinda busy.

UXO cleanup was not something USAID did, that was a State affair. In Gaza, we kept advocating for more UXO work, but it was always tied to the ceasefire negotiations and Israel's desired "humanitarian bubbles" - the project which became GHF. As a result, no meaningful US-funded UXO work occurred.
Gaza has around 20,000 unexploded Israeli bombs amid up to 70 million tonnes of rubble, posing a massive threat to Palestinians, as removal is blocked by Israel’s ban on heavy equipment, according to the Government Media Office.

I know I beat this drum a lot but it's genuinely offensive how many American representatives are against the provision of lethal aid to Ukraine because of concerns about UXO but they also don't think it's worth supporting initiatives to remove UXO, the majority of which is being laid by the Russians
