Yesterday was a quick check of the Parliament hives. All hives powering along thanks to the spring blossoms!
It was good news all round - the hive that was queenless last inspection used the frame of eggs we gave them to raise a new queen, and they are back on track.

On the plus, today's AFB inspection passed, varroa numbers well controlled and Mark, the inspector says, "I have the queen, she's laying like a bomb, do you want me to split the hive?"
She goes into the new box with nurses and some honey, the workers in the old hive will switch a newly laid egg

I'm not seeing many bees in the beautful, flowery gardens in my neighbourhood here in #Canberra and it's a bit heartbreaking tbh.
But thankfully folk like @jagungal.bsky.social are on the way to finding a cure to Varroa mite which is very great.
