Like the story goes nitroglycerin was discovered as a vasodilator because doctors at the TNT factory noticed workers were only getting heart attacks outside work.

It seems like you'd need a large sample size to notice that effect casually.

Viagra is used to treat pulmonary hypertension. It acts as a vasodilator. It’s not quite as weird idea as it sounds.

they can also be good to establish a blood supply for reattached skin/digits at risk of tissue death. The leeches are just very very good at making sure that blood flows towards the area they're sucking from. It's a combo of anticoagulant and vasodilator, plus anaesthetic and antiinflammatory.

I don't entirely understand what happened, but the tilt table test was really awful and also somehow once the medication they gave me in the IV wore off I feel better than I have in a month.

I'm guessing it interacted somehow with my MCAS because it's a vasodilator?

It also might be a useful clue: if I don't have any blockages bad enough for severe chest pain to be considered possible, then why does taking a vasodilator seem to help so much? My cardio is looking into it

Not sure what will come of that, but I've been feeling a bit better & more hopeful lately^^
