The best one was reseeded with a locally sourced neutral grassland mix, so lots of Bird's-foot Trefoil, Knapweed and Vetches. I suppose the commercial mixes could be a 'gateway drug' to proper grassland.

This is a quick way to give to the most stagnant fund I host. Everything is documented transparently. https://tiny.cc/divyafunds

This is a photo of pink and white crown vetches. There are green leaves around them.

81 years in the helminths made you a fucking vetches!

I desperately need to add Canada milk vetch to my gardens. Then I can look at it and wonder why anyone ever decided to plant invasive vetches instead of it.

Delighted to discover on today’s dog walk that a local farm has sown their fields with nitrogen-fixing flowers this summer. 😍 Counted well over 50 butterflies before I lost count! Seed mix seems to be phacelia, common poppy, various vetches and various clovers. Gorgeous. 😊 #GreenManure

Ha. I see it's actually One Of The Vetches (tare, la vesce, vicia sativa) today.

I like that plan. I'm sort of trying the same idea with vetches and clovers. Not sure yet if it'll work but they'll do lots of good in the meantime and the beasties like them.

Comfreys too. Next year I'll hopefully be making feed juice with the leaves.

Oh that’s a beautiful photo, Henry! Lovely vetches!

Previously had a pretty uninspiring lawn, so I offered up a dash of wildflower seeds hoping to improve the lot.

This summer the sward is a heady blend and of grasses interwoven with vetches, clovers, yarrow, knapweed, bedstraw, and self heal.

Prairie is so much more than just “grass”. Sit & spend some time with a bright yellow Blanket Flower, some white & pinkish Downy Paintbrushes, brilliant purple Vetches, & the long & very sharp Porcupine Grass. Your Friday Prairie Zen. Enjoy!

We're nine days from the summer solstice now, and British wildflower meadows are reaching their absolute peak. Buttercups, vetches, and bird's-foot trefoil are all flowering together, creating a brief window where pollinators have maximum choice before mid-summer settles in.

Leptidea sinapis (L.) Wood White, is the tiniest & most delicate of our white butterflies. It uses Bird’s-foot Trefoil as a larval host, as well as various other vetches. It favours warm, damp and sheltered sites. It is Endangered in England.

…Or write to ur local councillors about the importance of wildflower areas & verges & no-mow times.

A couple of years ago we were asked to vote on what to do with an unused patch in our ward. The winning idea was a wildflower area with short accessible trail!

I'm lucky enuf to have the backyard…

It's a big family - from trees (locusts) to ground covers (vetches).

Many - but not all - can fix nitrogen.

Many are edible - and toxic!

Ox-eye daisies and teasel burst out covering the little patch of wasteland while the verges are blooming with cow parsley, vetches and clovers … #wildflowerhour #urbanplants

🐝Garden Bumblebees are active April–September. Look for yellow bands on the thorax, one yellow band on the abdomen, and a white tail. Their long face and tongue help them feed from foxgloves, honeysuckle, vetches, and red clover.🌸
Seen one? Add them to your list!
