guess I just prep my class on the volsunga saga. because there's a world worth trying to save, and part of it involves reading and learning and teaching. I guess.

Un altro esempio è rintracciabile nel secondo capitolo della saga norrena dei discendenti di Volsung (Völsunga Saga), trascritta in area islandese per la prima volta forse attorno al 1250, probabilmente durante il regno di re Hakon IV.

Midgard Norse Mythology - Thor’s Warband. Hearthguard led by Ulric Ragnarsson. “Fear not death for the hour of your doom is set and none may escape it (Völsunga Saga). Miniatures from @footsoreminiatures.bsky.social, which are probably the best 28mm Vikings on the market.

According to Norse mythology, the Valkyries were able to shapeshift into ravens. In Völsunga saga a 'wish maiden', a term sometimes used to describe the Valkyries, assumes the form of a raven and gains the ability to fly.

They're such a perfect contrast to Túrin Turambar too. If B&L is the Grimms' Fairy Tales of the First Age of Middle-earth, Túrin is the Volsunga Saga.
I love the Tale of Lúthien & Beren because it's the most fairytale-ass thing in the Silmarillion. Enchanted forests, starcrossed lovers, evil sorcerers, werewolves, vampires, talking dogs, a princess who escapes from captivity with her magic hair, a wizards' rap battle, reverse Orpheus & Eurydice.

In the 13th-century Old Norse poem Völsunga Saga, the hero Sigmund and his son Sinfjötli find magic wolf pelts that transform people into wolves for ten days. They wear the pelts and go on a violent rampage, which ends with Sigmund nearly killing Sinfjötli. #WyrdWednesday

Volsunga saga Sigurd is like “guess all those bad things are going to happen to me, as it’s been told many times. Oh well, better not think about nor fight it.” one of the best Siegfrieds. also bc he is capable of love

Volsunga Saga! We've let Wagner have the Ring Cycle for far too long and need more werewolves / snake pits.

The Völsunga saga, a famous Norse epic, includes the hero Sigurd slaying a wingless dragon named Fáfnir. He was once a man, cursed for murdering his father, Hreidmarr, to claim his gold. Fafnir of the North is fought during FFXVI, as is the larger Hreidmar dragon in a DLC.
