The werewolves of Ossory were there before the Reformation, so I think they're Catholic. Vampires are Catholic or Orthodox; Frankenstein-style monsters are Deist or Atheist; Zombies are Voudun. The Protestants can have a Monster from the Green Lagoon for what's been done to Lough Neagh!

I don't think it's racist to call an undead person a zombie. Actually the zombie comes from Haitian voudun, where they have legitimate techniques to reanimate people & put them under spiritual service. But I don't think it's racist at all to call an undead person a zombie. @tichatnwa.bsky.social

I don't think it's racist to call an undead person a zombie. Actually the zombie comes from Haitian voudun, where they have legitimate techniques to reanimate people & put them under spiritual service. But I don't think it's racist at all to call an undead person a zombie. @tichatnwa.bsky.social
So hoodoo and voudun are two separate things. Hoodoo is a collection of folk practices focused on natural elements and magic while Voudun is an actual religion with deities and gods. I've been trying to find myself a community as well so I have really no intel for that unfortunately.

I read once about a Voudun ceremony I think it was where in this temple the worshipers kissed the priestess coochie as to give thanks to the life bearing force. It's been 20 something years so I could have some details off but yeah.

for years, my collective poetry files have gone by the name, Rainbow Excrement, which was supposed to be the original title of my 2016 chap, Caul & Response. it references how rainbows were precursors to creation by voudun gods; it now sits as the placeholder title for Drown In My Own Shit.
