Anyone who calls this “walkable” is a psycho
We know the street designs that are safe and we know the ones that are deadly. Take a look at SDOT's "Walkable Boulevard" concept for Aurora, for example. It's basically Rainier Avenue with extra lanes.

What Halloween teaches us about better, more walkable neighbourhood design. @brenttoderian.bsky.social discussed with @npr.org. #Halloween
With #Halloween coming up, let’s all remember the “Trick-Or-Treat Test!”

“Kids know when a neighborhood is good for getting candy because there's a lot of doors near each other…I call it door density.”

“Halloween reveals a lot about good neighborhood design every day.”

My @npr.org interview:
Does your neighborhood have good urban design? Employ the 'trick-or-treat test'
Asma Khalid speaks with Brent Toderian, former chief planner for Vancouver, Canada, about the "trick-or-treat test," which encourages residents to think about good neighborhood design on Halloween.
