I feel this entirely.
I got into War40K through the novels. I have no interest in the miniatures or the game. I just put more obscure novels on the pile.

Woo... first time trying my airbrush on mini and first time trying colored shadow and zenithal highlight.
I feel like i got the priming and shadow down, highlights... dang that's rough to learn. Way too much, maybe more practice. Maybe I should re shadow?

War40k is a weird game to me. I've never played it, so many a IRL game feels different, but I've watched quite a few APs of it edited down. It really feels like by the end of turn 2 80% of the units have been wiped off the board and the rest of the turns are about moving around the remaining ones

i don't want to say the war40k rpgs have uniquely bad adventure books, but they certainly seem to be where the least amount of effort was put. There's this wrath and glory book that is just a bunch of adventure ideas with no maps NPCs or locations

i hunger to take anything of value from these War40k books without needing to read all 150-300 pages of double column text with barely any game aids but I haven't managed it yet

My 36th painted mini and First non tyranid Also the first time I ever did one mini straight without batching Mixed contrast and layer, have to do some more highlight, disappointed with my cloak Red turning out icky. But a fun mini to paint!

Yeah it always makes me ask what exactly they find exciting in life because here I am reading posts about ttrpgs or Kamen Rider or war40k and you never see them weigh in on any if that either ( unless it's to complain about 40k)

meta-wise I think I generally dislike the trend in fiction that wants to trace everything back to singular causes. War40k is really bad about, it feels like everything needs to lead back to the three fairly boring chaos gods

J'aime bien le pdv des persos dans war40k, mais c'est tout je crois. Je prefere au global les histoires de fantasy.
Je m'attache plus aux enjeux de fantasy, meme si c'est juste que Gotrek sauve un village.
La "disto-caricature" de 40k est cool pour l'ambiance, moins pour l'immersion/empathie.
