Inspo: astrophotography by @dazza1639.bsky.social of the California Nebula.

#watercolor #watercolorspace
A painting of a nebula that's reddish orange, yellow, and white in two bands diagonally across the page from top left to bottom right. There is dark coloring around and between the bands, providing a stark contrast to the reddish orange color. The nebula is a watercolor rendition of the California Nebula. California Nebula astrophotography by Darren Carver. This appears as two bands of dark orange, yellow, and cream going diagonally from top left to bottom right. There is the darkness of space between and around the bands.

The inspiration image - can someone tell me whose it is so I can properly attribute it? - and the painting I created using Neocolor 2 watercolor crayons on cotton sketchbook paper for something a little different.

Swirl of colors painted on white paper sketchbook and Caran d'Ache Neo color 2 crayons next to the painting with the tin for the crayons above the sketchbook, all on a desk. Dark center, pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue emanating from the center with stars throughout as though an explosion swirling in space.

Galaxy time!

There are watercolor brushes around the painting, a heart pan with burnt orange paint to the upper left corner and a tube of white Windsor Newton designer gouache above the painting. Photo of a spiral galaxy in burnt orange with yellow stars scattered throughout and a few bright white stars on the right side of the photo.

Pinwheel with a white center, red and blue lines curling out from center, and a white ring around the pinwheel. This is set against a black background splattered with tiny white spots as stars. An image of space with three galaxies. On the left is a small white swirly galaxy and, above it, a red swirly galaxy with a white center. To the right is a large pinwheel galaxy with a white center, red and blue lines curling out from the center, and a white and red set of stars circling the pinwheel.
