A small, one-and-a-half-inch-tall mushroom is centered in the photo. Its stipe is yellow, smooth, and shiny. A ring of light appears just below the cap on the front left of the stipe, which is a reflection of the bright edges of the cap above it. The cap is light green around the edges and dark green at the top. It is extremely reflective due to the layer of slime covering it. 📷 Canon R5 Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM M, f/4, 1/5, ISO 400 Stack of 23 images 11/21/24 Olympia area, Washington

Growing among vibrant, deep green moss and dark brown cedar duff, a light green parrot mushroom shows off its shiny surface. Its soft green cap is broad and dome-shaped, and its edges are lighter than the top. The yellow-green stipe is straight until the base, where it takes on a slight curve to the right and disappears behind heavily blurred moss in the foreground. A mottled texture is seen throughout the stipe. 📷 Canon R5 Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM M, f/4, 1/5, ISO 400 Stack of 17 images 11/21/24 Olympia area, Washington

Surrounded by black and brown cedar duff, a lone, tall, shiny yellow mushroom grows in the center of the frame. Its stipe stands about three inches tall, and its cap extends upward about one inch from the top of the stipe. The mushroom is uniformly yellow. The stipe has a smooth but also slightly stringy or fibrous texture. The cap is smooth and reflective with tiny spots and thin lines of black, almost like an aging banana. 📷 Canon R5 Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM M, f/2.8, 1/10, ISO 400 Stack of 23 images 11/21/24 Olympia area, Washington

Rising from dark earth and tree duff, a beautiful tropical orange mushroom glows. Its stipe is smooth and changes from a nearly reddish-orange at its base to a yellow-orange near the cap. A fungus photo a day: Not a great photo. I should have deleted it because the Hygrocybe flavescens/golden waxycap isn’t in sharp focus (my iPhone in low light letting me down again) but I still kind of like it. So here it is. #fungifriends #fungi #mycology #naturephotography

A parrot mushroom with a smooth and skinny yellow stipe and a yellow and olive green cap bends its way out of the earth.
