That's... Very debatable. How many Android phones can be converted to Linux? I would rather have the pure Linux experience (with Waydroid support for things I can't live without, banking apps for example) than have to deal with the mess that is Google getting in the way of me doing what I want-

I'm prepared to give Bluestacks a go - what do you hate about it? Have to say I do not really want to arse about with Linux and Waydroid. I will probably just end up taking my Pixel tablet with me in the end

Gah, I’ve just read through and it’s bloody Bluestacks. The clever way is to install Windows Subsystem for Linux - I always go debian but ymmv - and then put Waydroid on it, which will use the Linux namespaces to run Android “natively” without the emulation overhead.
