I think the right take is: not enough was done to regulate tech and their platforms, nor prevent such large buildups of wealth and their easy funnelling into politics to undermine the state.

I don’t think this is a left/right issue so much as how algorithmic, individualised discursive and visual social media platforms have made many, if not all of us, believe we are the protagonists of the universe. It’s just some people have the wealth and means to act meaningfully on that belief.
