Oops. That was a more bookish week than I expected. I bookended my working week with animals - a trip to Chester Zoo on Monday, and meeting a friend at a lovely Farm Park on Friday - and in between I received quite a few preordered books, ordered a few more, picked up a bargain at Lidl, and was gifted a few more. No wonder I'm so tired ... Well, all that and hormones, but that's another story. I'm breaking up the Norway pictures this week with some zoo snaps because cute animals, obviously.

Well. I made it through the weekend, mostly without too much sadness at missing Bloody Scotland this year. Mostly. It's always sad to miss a great festival, and Bloody Scotland is most certainly one of my favourites. But I'm not going to lie. I genuinely do not have the energy this year. As much as I love books, and clearly I do as I am still here after ten years boring my four or five followers about them, I am heading heartily into those mad menopause years that come to all us ladies sooner or later, and my concentration for reading is at rock bottom.

And that is another one down. One step closer to a nice long weekend for me, although sadly, after some emergency surgery on the car - which has responded well and is feeling (sounding) much better, thank you - unless something changes drastically by Thursday, not to be spent at Bloody Scotland for the first time in what feels like forever. Looks like it will be a good one too. I think, mental health wise, I just need some down time without long travel, late nights and feeling like I have to perform to a certain standard of happiness and enthusiasm too, so there is that.

Well Labor Day weekend is just a few short days away, symbolizing the end of summer.

What a difference a week makes, huh? We have had some of the wet stuff. Yes, it has finally rained properly and, after what feels like a lifetime of hellishly hot nights, I finally feel like I am able to sleep all night long. Which couple with the not being able to walk before work because it's too dark, has made getting out of bed this week a struggle, but hey ho. Sleep! Rain! Bliss. That's about all I've been up to this week to be fair. Well that and buying books and eating far too many biscuits but that's okay.

So. Tenth of August. Pretty well a third of the way through the month. I don't know about you all, but to me it almost feels as though it is next stop Christmas. What the heck is going on? A busy old week at work has meant that I have no idea what is happening any more, and no idea what I am doing with my life. A touch melodramatic, I acknowledge that, but still. The tenth of August for heaven's sake! And that means that the days are starting to shorten at alarming speed.
