Too often, it means "digital stickers" for compliance. Kapp (2012) distinguishes between simple rewards and true "game thinking"—the use of game mechanics to solve problems. WeWillWrite is my favorite right now because they use that deep game thinking to hack Social Constructivism.

A3: Attitude can be a hurdle. Some students do not deal well with not winning, so it takes some time to learn how to build a game that’s both fair and doesn’t appease. Helping students understand not winning does not equate to “not smart.” A game is simply to liven up learning. #EduSkyChat
