THE BLOOD COUNTESS: MURDER, BETRAYAL, & THE MAKING OF A MONSTER, by Shelley Puhak.

Grabbed off shelf at the library. In short: almost nothing of the Erszébet Báthory legend is true. The arguments convince (I'm hardly an expert) and it makes me mad about the legend & its propagation.

I think I loved this. It's scary, in a way that feels like a remembered nightmare that I, personally, have had before.

My demented camel cult story, Dromedary Mary, is out in this month’s The Dark magazine!

The end of the world is coming. Quick! Pile your supplies on your body and shut all the doors. Be like Mary. Follow the dromedary. Everything will be alright in the end.

I enjoyed this novella, which gives us animal bride/selkie tropes from a new perspective.

Patrick climbed a mountain to lure a bride down from the sky. He climbed back down with more trouble than he was ready for. BRIDES IN THE DARK is the new saga in romantic fantasy giving readers everywhere wings!

Oh, and I liked the ending a lot.
