#windbg
Code is c0000005 (WinDbg popping up automatically lended to the comedy of the moment ngl)

things of note, too:

- Only crashes if I have a saved run in progress
- DOESN'T crash if I run as admin directly from file explorer vs steam.

Verified files and am on most up to date windows, etc.

Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't seem to follow this wisdom:

okay it seems to be that if you map a network drive on SMB3, then that host becomes an SMB1-only server, you get random hangs on some IO functions in the SMB kernel driver. awesome!!

The Windows edition is x64 (WinDbg), and the Linux edition is both x64 and ARM64 and uses both WinDbg and GDB. No AI was used in writing these books.

i also did some game modding with it and it complied without much hassle, but when working on my general-purpose debugger it could complain. it implements a shared engine over gdb and windbg, so we share some ground! but it uses the engine to implement more features

If a minidmp was made. Windbg can give you an idea on what caused it :)

Accelerated Disassembly, Reconstruction and Reversing, Third Edition (WinDbg) and Accelerated Linux Disassembly, Reconstruction and Reversing, Second Edition (GDB) are full-color books; both use a pattern-oriented approach to x64 disassembly. No AI was involved in writing these books.

ok so no one has ever actually liked windbg, that's how you know it's good
August 24, 2026 at 11:12 AM
you can also tell a lot about a person by if they pronounce "WinDbg" as "win-debug", "win-deebeegee" or "windbag"

WinDbg is a hateful sadistic piece of software but if you stare at it for long enough you begin tolerating it; i've developed enough exposure to it that i even... enjoy it? either way it's really useful

I will agree with your point but not your screenshot. In your screenshot, the program has been deliberately obfuscated.

Although I have occasionally dived into WinDBG to have a look at assembly code. It's... Not fun.

One for the old timers here.

I've been having lots of Blue Screens so when a Firefox tab crashed, I opened the mindump in WinDbg to see what it was. The faulting instruction was "int 3". (Debugger Trap) Not one I have to worry about. 🤣

(Although it was in in WaitForMultipleObjects. 😖)
