My WinServer is running OMV & Home Assistant via HyperV. I also have Plex for all my movies/shows. Docker Desktop running instances of Calibre-web for digital books and Open WebUI. I also installed Pinokio for image generation. If Suno had a local version I would never leave my house. #AI

Have been worried about Windows 12 or whatever being a subscription model only. Looking at WinServer 2022 not getting security updates soon. Realized we already have a subscription model. You just pay 4 years up front.

Trust me my friends if I didn't have a specific need for some Loonix utilities (like dd/ddrescue, both lifesavers) I would have beaten a hasty retreat to Win11 LTSC/WinServer a loooong time ago. In fact, I'm still kinda tempted to do so because my doobie server is still dead after running updates

A good way to start with Plex is just to get an old desktop, install Windows 7/10, or WinServer 2016/2019/2022, plug in a couple scavenged hard drives, and before you know it you have your own private netflix!
