Forget the King's Christmas Day speech - here's my shameless "Winterval" plug instead.

Live from Lewisham.

Only one more woke til Winterval.

Why don't we report that this is plainly absolute fucking bollocks on stilts though? Why does every Winterval and "baa baa rainbow sheep" story have to be treated as if the freaks have a point of view worth considering?
Culture war latest: the Bank of England has announced that after a public consultation, to which it received 44,000 responses, the next new banknotes will feature native wildlife.
Tories: "It is deeply depressing that under Lab our national heroes are considered too 'divisive' to be on bank notes."

Ahh the first grinches of Winterval

Kemi Badenoch just an ace away from complaining about Winterval. Beyond parody, and deeply depressing.

Galaxy Quest is on, the traditional start of secular Winterval

BLESSED SOLSTICE......to all you celebrating

If not

MERRY FUCKING WINTERVAL

This reminds me! Five years ago I had a chat with the local council official who created “Winterval” in 1998. A real canary in the coal mine of future British culture wars. TBH the real story is that councils used to have money to spend on cultural events. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Excitement gathers as the people of Newport prepare for the unveiling of this years Christmas tree and decorations. #winterval

Politicians whanging on about Christmas is festive Godwin's law. The first one to mention "Christian celebration" or "woke councils insisting on Winterval" loses.

Happy Christmas! And merry Winterval!

Its factored in to the outrage calendar. Next up "Winterval".
Oh this years Poppy outrage from the Daily Express is about the White Poppy. Screaming about it being woke and having a tantrum about it. Honestly it’s so tiring every bloody year they create something from nothing.

wishing a happy christmas/hanukkah/winterval to those who celebrate.
December 24, 2024 at 1:25 PM
You can’t even wish someone a blessed winterval any more
December 25, 2024 at 9:02 AM
Happy Holidays everyone ❄️

and a very special Winterval to the self-styled anti-woke, “diversity is weakness” brigade ✨

He sees you when you’re sleeping
He sees you if you’re woke
Insists he heard it’s “winterval”
And says you can’t do jokes
Culture Wars is coming to town

It'll always be Winterval to me.
As we move into “foreigners are cancelling Christmas in the name of political correctness” season it’s worth remember that Christmas was indeed once banned in England, by Christians and the man who enforced the ban has a statue in his honour outside the Houses of Parliament.

Not so much Winterval as Flagmas

Nothing like first skate training after winterval to remind you that there are lots of tiny muscles inside your hips and lower back that do not get get touched by anything other than roller skating.

Can’t wait to wish everyone on Bluesky a very happy Winterval and become the subject of a 4 day “these days, you can’t even say Christmas” news cycle
November 26, 2024 at 5:47 PM
Happy Winterval BlueSky folks.
See you on the other side. 🎄
December 24, 2024 at 7:21 PM
Happy winterval to all the tofu-eating wokerati! 😁🎄🎅🏻

[8] Such was the annoyance of the unilateral decision of the City Fathers to change the name, that the next year Winterval disappeared like selection boxes in January! So when any tulip tells you there’s a war on Christmas, there isn’t, there’s just a bunch of idiot councillors!
May 18, 2025 at 11:13 AM
[6] This find body of local government decided that having a Christmas Festival might be offensive to non-Christians & so came up with ‘Winterval’. And as it is written, so it was raised up in flashing lights above the city centre. Queue general confusion amongst the locals. Like WTF?
