The woonerf or “living street” concept is spreading from the Netherlands across Poland, including the town of Sopot, just outside Gdańsk. Privileging pedestrians and calming traffic to 20 km/hr, the name and elements are retained—removing the curb and adding texture, greenery, seating, and lighting.
