Nothing explicitly queer, but i do know a bunch of queer-friendly spaces (mostly on discord). Writehive and Indie Book Spotlight are a couple that come to mind.

A lot of (but not all) genre writing subs on Reddit too.

That kind of creative community can make such a difference, especially when people genuinely support each other. I’m curious, what do you think makes WriteHive feel different from other writing communities you’ve been part of?

Every 2025 Indie Ink Awards Finalist I Read
Hello, readers! WriteHive gave me the privilege of being one of the judges for the 2025 Indie Ink Awards this year! The 2025 Indie Ink Awards is a book awards competition for indie authors. I also had the amazing experience of being a judge for the 2024 Indie Ink Awards, which was also an amazing experience. Given that I read many books this year, I thought I'd share which books I read and what my thoughts were on each one!

I look tired as hell because I was up early for the dentist (Tend for the win, btw — best dentists ever), but at least I’m styling in my @writehive merch!

I'm limited re: transportation so I couldn't go in-person unless it was on my doorstep (which could happen!)

but I did get to virtually attend this year's WriteHive (and missed almost all the live discussions I was interested in, RIP) and enjoyed! I like hearing others' wisdom.

Yes! I went to WisCon, Sirens twice, a few others in Colorado, and attended WriteHive online this year. They're immensely helpful for networking. But they're also very expensive, which is why I haven't attended any in person in a long time.

I remember seeing stuff about writehive. would you recommend it?

Happy #SummerofStories 21!

I have attended WriteHive twice, as an attendee and as a panelist. It's a virtual conference, which is nice because most of the panels are recorded and saved so you can watch later, but I don't think I got as much of the networking as I might have for an in-person.

#SummerOfStories 21

I recently went to the virtual WriteHive conference! I was only able to attend one panel live, but it was great! It was a discussion about cozy fiction and it helped me realize why exactly some of my stories are called cozy by my readers, even if I don't think they 100% are! 💛

Though I have not read her book yet, I have to give a shoutout to @ashintheashes.bsky.social, who was one of my co-panelists at the recent 2026 WriteHive Annual Conference. Go check out her book that has dragons, queer rep, and disability rep! #SFFChat
