Syntax is a bit awkward but you can think of it as "Yaml variables"

Apparently they are adding support in late 2025, while changing their Yaml parser

Interesting: the YAML organization has adopted a fork of go-yaml/yaml, also known as gopkg.in/yaml.v3. Beyond security updates for v3, they have begun work on a future v4!

OMG - GitHub Actions now supports Yaml Anchors

This somehow means you can create Yaml variables and reuse common values in CI jobs
