BAR’AM, The Holy Land — The 15th Aramean Summer Camp has opened in the historic village of Bar’am in Israel’s Upper Galilee, bringing together young people from the Syriac Maronite Christian community for a program focused on Aramaic language, Christian heritage and Aramean identity. The camp is organized by the Israeli Christian Aramaic Association, founded by Shadi Khalloul, a former Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier and prominent advocate for the recognition of Arameans as a distinct ethnic community in Israel.
