#zippering
A lady driving a BMW X1 with a Mike Minogue for governor sticker cut me when we were zippering on to 93 and then subsequently crossed the gore. I got home and immediately filled out my ballot with a vote for Healey.

All of this (running reds; running stops; rolling thru stops at 4-ways; using turn/parking lanes to pass; speeding through neighborhoods to bypass arteries) +
- not understanding turning circles
- throwing doors open into traffic
- not zippering at merges
- blocking the box

a second zip-up hoodie has stopped doing the whole zippering thing

One of the 84 roundabouts I have to tow a trailer through every day was backed up as usual and everyone was zippering in just fine and then a cybertruck wouldn’t let me in. I’ve never been so close to felonious crash out.

you don't have to love the things I do, listen to the records I do, weird little zippering noises and harsh squalls, people growling and barking like dogs, eating an apple in the mic, laughing like mad clowns, but if this is the coward ass way you find whatever your version of that is, fuck you

Mace devouring two gallons of baked beans and zippering herself up in a baroness catsuit to own the libs on her podcast for three listeners.

Man, I’m so good at zippering tasks together to maximize efficiency. 😂 Started doing this a million years ago, when my kids were young & I went back to school to finish my undergrad degree. So, today, I wanted to bake a Dolly Parton strawberry cake. I got the oven preheating while I was passing

People who speed ahead when trying to merge into traffic instead of just zippering in this exacerbating the traffic. People who treat service industry folks poorly. One way streets socially, like when a friend offers me a kindness and I cant reciprocate or pay them back i find it irrationally

i watched my husband’s location sit in the lot for 30 mins trying to get out 😵‍💫 he said people were good about zippering/letting others merge at least!
September 5, 2026 at 6:04 PM
Dear drivers who feel personally offended by people properly zippering: ask yourself if blocking people who have the right of way from merging is worth dying for. This is America, you should just assume everyone has a gun and is having a bad day.

Fair enough, just bored with so many replies about zippering when I never objected to it, and wasn't talking about it.

Doing the zipper-merge is a real thing and, with empirical evidence, is known to improve traffic flow. Learn to do it and to help it happen.

OTOH, there is such a thing as a**hole driving. Traffic light controlled intersections are not the place to pretend you are "zippering".

I'm leaving out a bunch of messy technical battles me and Claude fought to slay the many headed hydra of zippering, stuttering, buzzing, and popping.
Many thanks to @msage.bsky.social and the audio-wizard they summoned to help, known only to me by a discord handle.

"Forcing?" No, that is not how zippering works, Temo.

We take turns, as we've been taught since we've been taught since kindergarten.

Were you home schooled, or are you simply reflexively selfish?

Zippering works quite well in the Central Coast and Bay Area regions of California. It's the only thing that keeps traffic flowing on our overfilled roads.

I'm gonna get hate for this bu~t since we're on pet peeves.

That sign that says "Lane Ends, Merge" is posted a mile ahead of the lane ending for a reason. Please merge as soon as safely possible and proceed normally.

Zippering only works when you are accelerating and you can't do that last minute.

One thing that makes me angry are people who can’t zipper onto the highway I yell about it a lot 😅 I have a whole song I do to the beat of hot to go for zippering
