Sincerity is a precious resource
The people providing it are just as valuable
It would be far better to leave the world behind having reinforced the values you lived by and actually standing for something, than to spend your life painting over everything meaningful with irony and indifference.

Maybe I’m going on my high-horse a bit, but I’ve always had a quiet disdain for irony-pilled humour. While a detached mindset can be funny in moderation, I think the world needs more sincerity and genuine care, rather than less of it.
Call me a fuckin’ Boy Scout, but eh. I literally was one.

15 days to Fortune’s weave! This is my pitch to Nintendo to lead their marketing campaign. 1. Cute ladies 2. Bunny outfits 3. Lotta brainwashing

I tell people all the time that I got lucky with my career and it annoys a lot of them. "No, but you're good," they will say, and I will say, yes, I am good, and also here are all these people who write as well as I do but did not get the same break, so being good isn't the issue, being lucky is.
I am 90% sure my career wouldn't have happened if a couple people hadn't retweeted one of my stories the exact minute they did.
You work your hardest, but it's not in your hands. It breaks a lot of people.
You work your hardest, but it's not in your hands. It breaks a lot of people.
My biggest frustration with writing is that quite often, the SWOOP that takes a book from midlist to BIG DEAL is pure luck, and I personally can't do anything to make it happen. Publishing is not a meritocracy. It's skill + time + luck, and all you can do is be in position for possible liftoff.
