Fair play Ed Davey for condemning masked racist thugs on the streets of Britain. Why is it left to a Lib Dem leader to fill this chasm? #EdDaveySpeech #LibDemConference

I’ve been very happy to support this motion. Water companies’ customers and the environment need radical change in the water industry
It is now Lib Dem policy to mutualise failing water companies.

The privatisation of the water industry has been a license for rich executives to extract billions of pounds instead of reinvesting it to benefit customers.

The Lib Dems now have a more radical policy on water than Labour. 🔶🤝🌊 #LDConf
For years, our rivers, lakes and seas have been pumped full of filthy sewage while executives pocket billions.

It’s time to take profit out of water, end failed privatisation and put communities and our environment first.

I was proud to be in the hall and vote for this motion.
Delighted to have got the chance to get up in stage at Lib Dem Conference to speak truth to power and advocate for the rights of trans and non-binary people.

Even more delighted that the motion 'Restoring trans rights' passed overwhelmingly.

I've written to the Prime Minister ahead of his first statement later today, with a clear message:

Our politics is broken and we can’t fix our country until we fix our politics.

While Farage fights in a bin in Clacton, we are winning across the country, with a GAIN from Reform in Kirklees and Labour in East Devon.

In so many parts of the country, only the Liberal Democrats can defeat Reform.

Huge congratulations to the teams on their results!

It’s outrageous that #ThamesWater customers are now being asked again to pay for the mismanagement of their local water network over years. Like double taxation, it just isn’t fair.
Once again, billpayers are being rinsed for £3.4bn to fix a water network neglected for decades.

It's time the government kept their promise and finally scrapped the failing Ofwat for good.

Time for the government and all of us to treat the climate emergency with the urgency it requires

We need cross-party leadership on the climate crisis.

Preparing communities for extreme weather while moving away from fossil fuels and protecting families, farmers, the NHS and our economy.

They are taking the mickey! It’s high time the government sorts out #ThamesWater. It should be owned by its customers, with proper regulation and without its long suffering customers having to pay twice for required investment.

The #Netherlands is finding creative ways to expand #solarpower without sacrificing large amounts of valuable land. Solar panels on buildings and combining electricity generation with surfaces that already serve another purpose. Rooftops are an important part of this strategy #ActOnClimate

While wildfires rage, oil bosses are laughing all the way to the bank thanks to Donald Trump’s idiotic Iran war.

People across the country are facing sky high energy bills. If Burnham is struggling to find the money to help families with those bills, I’d start here.

This has been a @libdems.org.uk campaign for quite some time. I’m pleased to see it gain traction. Water is a vital public service and the #WaterIndustry must be run for the public interest, not extraordinary, harmful private profit

Not all areas have strategic mayoralties and not all areas look like Manchester. Large rural councils have their own, unique challenges and must be given the resources and the devolved powers to run them well

Donald Trump is doubling down on his reckless trade war, after his last tariff tantrum was ruled illegal.

He's a bully and an unreliable ally.

We can't have continuity Starmer. Andy Burnham must stand up to Trump.

Increased drilling in the North Sea will not bring down domestic fuel prices. There is no benefit to it. Andy Burnham must resist the temptation
There’s massive fallacy at the very start and heart of this story - no amount of new oil and gas from the North Sea can bring down the cost of living - global markets set the price, even when we make it here - not us.

We need more democracy, at national level and also - very importantly - at local level. Local democracy needs more power to make decisions in the interest of residents and more democratic accountability
2024 General Election. Second lowest turnout in history. Labour won on only 34% of the vote. - Andy Burnham needs to do what he preaches and upgrade our democracy, not only fair votes, but the democratisation of every level of local and national government.

When sewage is pouring into your local river, lake or beach it doesn't just matter how long it happens for, it matters how much 💩 there is!

Absolutely fantastic quote yesterday by Ed Davey:

“We take elections seriously, so I can’t back a joke candidate with ridiculous policies, so I hope Count Binface beats him.”
Bravo sir!

Make every vote count! @liberaldemokrat.bsky.social have been campaigning for electoral reform for ages. When he becomes PM, Andy Burnham must move forward with introducing a fairer, more proportional form of voting across the country. www.politics.co.uk/news/2026/07...

We’re nearly at the end of #NetZero week and it should really attract more awareness. So I’m reposting these net zero mythbusters.
Investing in renewables is our best chance to gain energy security, reduce energy costs, and keep a planet where people and nature can thrive. It’s a #WinWinWin
Net Zero has been dragged into a culture war, putting real climate progress at risk.🌍

This Net Zero Week, we need to separate fact from fiction.

Only when people understand what Net Zero and renewable energy actually mean will they back the transition we need.
