I kinda definitely think you should not vote for somebody who is willing to say out loud that your friends are not people. And if you're doing so as harm reduction, I get it, but you'd better be out here doing something to reduce the harm you thought it was acceptable to vote for.
My HVAC guy* has visited and I can now officially turn on the furnace at will.

Still too stubborn to actually do it, but I COULD, and that's what really matters.

There are NOT machine-made clothes. If there were, your clothes would be made in the country you live in (where the customers are), or in China (where machines are cheap). They’re made in Bangladesh or India or Indonesia because that’s where the LABOUR is cheap. Your clothes are made by people.

My only literary hot take, as a reader of all genres including romance, is that I would like to not have to do so much homework to avoid being surprised by monsterfucker smut when I'm not actively looking for romantasy. That is all.

Norway has solution to this actually, stay at home parents can get their share of the public daycare subsidy as cash, that way parents are not pushed one way or the other. the problem of course is virtually no one on the center or right actually gives a shit about parents
"Making day care free, while offering nothing to stay-at-home parents, appeals to the educated, urban, affluent voters who have come to make up the Democratic base, but not to the electorate at large," Marc Novicoff argues:
The Problem With Democrats' Favorite Policy Proposal
Universal child care appeals to the party's cosmopolitan base—but not to most of the country.

A thing I learned about Meta when I was trying to understand how their statements relate to their actions a few years ago is that *they just tell absolutely indefensible lies* and journalists almost always let them. They believed no one would ever punish them for it in any way that matters.
Most state attorneys general released Meta from Cambridge Analytica-related claims as part of the child safety settlement. New Mexico wasn't part of that deal, and a jury there just found 26 of 29 past claims about Cambridge Analytica, hate speech and misinformation willfully deceptive.
Eight Years On, Cambridge Analytica Scandal Catches Up With Meta in Santa Fe
A jury found that Meta—then Facebook—misled the public in statements about Cambridge Analytica and its policies on hate speech, violence and misinformation.

The experiment has been run. In Quebec low cost daycare resulting in tens of thousands of additional women joining the workforce.

The increase in taxes to both provincial and federal governments were more than the cost of the subsidy.

Basically using LLMs and agentic ai is a massive security risk and no one should do so basically ever and these companies should be prosecuted for hacking. Also two-party consent should extend to all electronic communications.

Gone are the mass raids and militarized metro operations.

Gone are the pomp and pageantry.

But ICE arrests have hit record levels.

ICE operations are no longer concentrated in large American cities. Immigration enforcement officials are also working in suburban and rural areas, all across the US.

Ontario still hasn't announced the availability schedule for seasonal flu/covid vaccines which is super cool fun awesome love that for us.

I'm usually not eligible until November, but I also usually know that by September 1, so the delay is troubling.
