Readers of Tim Moore’s Travels with My Donkey will marvel at these donkeys placidly crossing a small bridge. Tho last donkey looks related to his Shinto.

A nice set of alternatives, tho arguably buying from Apple or Google is about the same difference as from Amazon, ethically speaking.
Some #readers understandably choose not to buy books from certain retailers. However, #authors don’t get to choose where our books are sold, but we feel the impact when readers stop buying.

Here are some ways to make sure that your choice doesn’t end up hurting the author too. 👍🧡

Hello new followers! I've removed the paywall from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you probably won't... www.tom-cox.com/the-village-...
The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

Rise of copiers also freed wives from being unpaid typists of duplicate copies. No wife? Find yourself a female student and get her to do it. Even copying was laborious, tho, at first, hence need for editorial assistants.
Free book idea in a footnote in Laura McGrath's "Middlemen: Literary Agents and the Making of American Fiction": how the mid-20th century rise of the Xerox machine enabled the rise of simultaneous submissions and changed book publishing (among other shifts in communication technology).

Delightful also to hear real eagle noises. In movies eagles are always dubbed with hawks, since hawks found fierce and eagles sound like adorable squeakers.
The colder autumn nights in Germany coaxes this magnificent eagle, Oropherion, to spend his nights in his heated indoor winter aviary.

This is an African Martial Eagle (Polemaetus bellicosus), the largest eagle species native to Africa.

So much attention spent on AI that folks have missed the issue of demonically possessed software. InDesign, looking at you. Number of 'help' sites that attest to brokenness of threading text boxes, sheesh. Not even gonna talk about footnotes, or what you do to fonts. Demons, all the way down.👹👹👹

Tom does 3 things to perfection: makes unexpected links, like jumping dogs and interstellar wormholes; creates characters of amazing complexity (human and other, like badgers and cats); and presents the nonrational as if utterly normal. No word is wasted; all belong on the page. Read all his books.
