We shouldn't have a Quiet Carriage on the train.

We should have a NoisyCcarriage.

If you want to watch or listen to the phone without headphones, or have loud and never-ending conversations, you go and sit in the Noisy Carriage.

The rest of the train is de facto Quiet.

Who's with me?

In the movie version of this, after Piddington runs out of food water and money as a result of leaving the UK, the residents apply for asylum and end up housed in a military base, with HILARIOUS consequences.

The danger of using voxpops in place of real analysis. Cameras are a magnet for motivated activists. These two made it into four different reels + a dozen print pieces. The illusion is that we're getting an insight into "Clacton voters". In truth, we just know what Farage Megastans Jim & June think.

Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement.

Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences.

Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else.

Enough.

Every day the news bulletin begins "President Trump has said..."

Yet we know he'll say something different tomorrow, which is different to what he said yesterday, & that none of these statements is likely to be true.

I get the problem for broadcasters, but this model is actively occluding the news
I think the key problem here is a continuing assumption, in traditional media, that when the White House speaks on a major topic, this is a big news story.

That model can't cope with a president with no regard for truth, who's in constant broadcast mode, & who veers around from one day to another.
Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?

He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.

So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

it feels quite bad that it's basically impossible to argue that much of the modern right in the west has become both entirely intellectually shallow and deeply, fundamentally morally corrupt without sounding like a tedious teenage tankie, because it is.....the factual truth
I was thinking this morning how both Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan would have been delighted to see a Westward-looking, centre-right party defeat a pro-Russian autocrat in a former Eastern Bloc country.

Well Gen X takes the heat for just about everything, but just for the record:

The average age of the Artemis astronauts is 48-50. That is smack dab in the middle of Gen X, folks, the generational cohort from 1965 to 1980. We must have done something right...
