If Farage's people are real, ordinary and decent then I must be pretend, weird and immoral.

UCU members at Brighton University face the threat of derecognition. We have called an emergency rally tomorrow at 1:15pm.

It would be amazing to see as many #TUC26 delegates as possible in attendance.

Finally they came for the Daily Mail and my irony meter just packed up and left and I never heard from it again.
Daniel Thomas / Danny Tommo has today marched his private army of blackshorts to Daily Mail HQ to demand a new house for his mum within 48 hrs, after they doorstepped her for a feature on him.
Apparently he plans to blockade them + cry at them until they do

Bet those lads are glad of the balaclavas

And 90 years later we have Mosley’s grandson running the UK arm of Palantir. A company that should not be within a million miles of the Police and NHS.

Pretty much every time you see Louis Mosley on tv, he’s dressed like this.
Could be that he just likes black shirts, I guess.

This was the point I emphasised about Palantir when I wrote about tech soverignty - their model is to make bits of the state dependent on them and them jack up the price.

'cosiness'

They beat a woman with a metal pole, Peter.
Thinking back on the Reform UK conference, one of the big impressions it left was *cosiness*. This sounds odd given the rhetoric, but it reminded me of some Tory conferences and Labour under Corbyn, where it was often a comfort blanket for members, with no beliefs or failures really challenged.

Dan Chater, whose Bethnal Green constituency had a large Jewish population, was one of many MPs to warn of the scapegoating of Jews and immigrants.

The Jewish peer Lord Reading warned that antisemitism was being whipped up as part of a wider attack on "the free institutions of this country".

90 years ago, Parliament responded to the rise of Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts by passing the Public Order Act, which banned political uniforms, private militias and the threat of force for political objects.

The debates make very resonant reading today. Here's the Liberal Robert Bernays. (Short 🧵)

I'm sat in a coffee shop surrounded by people drinking tea and coke and eating toast or if they're lucky a slice of cake while babies scream and dogs outside bark and I can't see a single person being bought champagne and oysters and I'm starting to wonder if Farage actually is a man of the people.
