Super excited about this new independent news outlet. Somali Americans deserve to tell their own stories.
mukhtar ibrahim, founder of the sahan journal, and ubah ali, a former WCCO reporter, have just launched the somali brief, an independent media outlet where somali americans can tell their own stories

Also, I just want to say: even though the game didn’t end up how I hoped, I had the best time at A Bar Of Their Own.

Staff, food, vibes, other patrons, all immaculate. I’ll definitely be back soon.
It’s Lynx vs Everybody until it’s over.

And it can’t be over soon.
Lynx drop Game 1 91-75, forcing a must-win Game 2 in Brooklyn on Tuesday. A deflating 51-31 second half after the Lynx frontcourt hit foul trouble early and as the Liberty hit their looks from deep, and hold the Lynx backcourt to a 6-24 outing.

Just last night I remembered another reason why you all need to make sure you get out to vote this year.

In 2024, Wisconsin beat us in voter turnout and that is *unacceptable*. We can't let that happen again.

I just spoke with a retired NBA player who told me that when he got drafted, he went out for ice cream to celebrate and was denied service. All these stories are still within living memory and they're still being contested at the highest levels of our government.

I’m glad that allegations of sexual harassment are now being taking seriously, instead of meal deal events being held in their honor.

Brighter days are ahead, Saint Paul. But those days must be without an abuser as our executive.

I’m calling on Mayor Kaohly Her to resign immediately.

She says she loves our city, this is one way she can prove it.

(CW: sexual harassment)

I’ve given a lot of thought to the news surrounding the conduct of the Mayor, but I’ve struggled to attach a word to how I feel.

The closest I’ve gotten is “heartbroken” in a number of ways.

True in June 2025, even truer after Operation Metro Surge. Trans comrades were central to grocery delivery operations, rent funds, patrol, giving rides…. If trans people belong to a cult (cf. Will Stancil), that cult is mutual aid and solidarity. Where politicians fail, trans people prevailed.
Just want to point out that it’s the 3rd day of Pride month and I know at least 10 trans comrades at Lake and Bloomington fighting for immigrants

It genuinely blows my mind the degree to which people in power do not grasp (or just refuse to acknowledge) that encampments are preferable to shelters for a whole lot of people, for a long list of reasons.

This is something all Democratic candidates and elected officials should be saying right now. It’s really that simple!
We're being told that if we sacrifice the rights of some people, then the rest of us get to keep our rights.

We all know that's some BS.

I’m Charlie St. Dennis, a student in the Twin Cities. I love music, crop art, running, and organizing work.

I like when Stevie Wonder turns into Cookie Monster at the end of “As”.

I also like when Tina Turner screams the final “baby, oh baby, oh ohh” in the bridge of “River Deep Mountain High”
Hi, I'm John Moe, a writer and podcast maker in Saint Paul. I am married with three mostly grown kids and two nice dogs.

I like in "Misunderstood" when Tweedy throws in extra syllables on "Take the guitar player for a ride".

Would you like to introduce yourself with a small song moment you like?

Bob Fletcher supports mass surveillance.

You don’t have to vote for him in November. In fact, you’re not a great person if you do.
Saint Paul is out of the Flock game. Wards 2 & 3, Noecker and Jost, pulled the metaphysical plug with a 7-0 vote.

Talk to Bob Fletcher if you want the rest. They belong to him.

MAGAts finally made some crop art that got displayed along with all the rest of the pieces, but that still wasn’t enough. A different crop artist has been doxxed, started receiving death threats, and had to leave the state because people were coming to her house.

Absolutely vile people.

Well, no ribbons for my crop art pieces this year. Maybe I’d be upset about it if all the other crop art pieces were horrible, but they’re pretty great this year. I’m honored to still be displayed next to them.

If you see Ilhan or The Lion King at the fair, take a photo with them and send it to me!
