There’s a lot of grumbling in London about new flats being sold to Chinese investors. But you never hear from the Chinese buyers. I asked Helen Gao to travel around Beijing property fairs and learn how you sell life in Woolwich to the Chinese elites. www.londoncentric.media/p/london-pro...
How London flats are marketed in China
Chinese buyers of London homes say they feel like “chives” • Bafflement at Londoners’ love of old homes built during the “Qing dynasty” • Fascination with the enigma of the British electrician

More detail about the building in Poplar where a man died in a fire at the weekend:

- Building was fitted with combustible Hemsec insulated panels, which were non-compliant at the time of build (oddly described as 'inflammable' by the manufacturer)

A fire at a building awaiting cladding remediation claimed the life of a man at the weekend. What do we know about this blaze, and what do we still need to know? PLUS - thoughts on the new PAS 9980

The #ultimatechampionship saved the best til last (if we don't count Mondo singing) with Tamberi back to form in the high jump and a couple of brilliant 200m finals. It's been fun, more good than bad.

Kenny Bednarek is such a likeable sprinter - so pleased for him. Can he do the double? #ultimatechampionship

#MECFS and #LongCovid often means people miss out on places that matter. The Mirror Box brings their voices back into those spaces. This weekend it will be at the Royal Opera House, London, 12–13 Sept 2026. Listen to the recording & send a postcard back.

It’s Gynae Cancers Awareness Month in September and I was doing a bit of research as I’ll probably write a blog or something because honestly ovarian cancer is all such a mystery still… and this on the Ovarian Cancer Action website really stopped me in my tracks.

I don't like everything about the BBC athletics coverage (too much chat and not enough coverage of field events) but this week has really showed up how poor the TNT coverage was and why the BBC is still IMO the best broadcaster for major sporting events.
Liam Hamilton: ‘2.9m viewers watch BBC1 coverage of penultimate night of European Athletics including 2 relay gold medals for BritAthletics compares to under 200k on TNT2 for same stage of Commonwealth Games a fortnight ago, including Josh Kerr gold in mile race. Ratings data @Digital_i_’

Was just thinking, six years ago we were all so isolated and amidst Covid and now we can all go out and stand on bridges looking at the sun through colanders. Definitely feels like things have moved in the right direction at least in this one small way.
here are my best pictures from watching the eclipse on Putney Bridge:

Couldn't get the colander to work but a bit of card with a tiny hole did the trick. More impressive than I expected. Got quite dark.
