This is such a midwest/Rust Belt thing. We don't measure distance in miles, we measure it in hours. If a trip is less than 8 hours, I will always consider driving over flying.

I've literally left my house at 2am to drive 6 hrs for an event that started at 9, lasted 8 hrs, then drove the 6 back np.
The way you know Vivek is not fit to rule Ohio is a true Ohioan would drive at least 8 hours before even considering flying

It's funny how accurate this quote is, but not in the complimentary way Trump intended it to be. Musk's most famous business acquisition being named after Edison's (much more talented) rival is just the cherry on top.
Trump is doing tricks on that thing: "Elon is our modern day Thomas Edison"

Read the first slide and thought it made an ok argument. Read the second slide and realized this person (and their parents) doesn't know how to cook, so *all* food they have at home probably tastes like "dog food" to them.

What I fear is what already happened when Biden won. There was no accountability, everyone just sat on their hands like it was business as usual, and the GOP was able to recover and come back worse. We cannot afford to make that mistake a second time.
I love the optimism about Dems winning in November - I share it! And: I'm a tiny bit nervous that winning will free folks of the urgency to fix deeper structural problems in our party that will fuck us in the long-haul if we don't grapple with them.

Seriously if any president ever did this besides him he would be gone in 5 seconds. Yet it won't be above the fold every day for the next month and it won't be the leading story on cable news every day until the midterms even though it should be.
"Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in history that loves us so much he can't even breathe" -- in extremely culty scene, Trump has his supporters pledge to him that they will vote, then tells them they will "go to hell" if they don't

Here's the full sequence:

I was sitting in programming class and someone came in telling us a plane hit the World Trade Center. The entire class immediately began looking for any live feed online. We found one and huddled around the one computer just in time to watch the second plane hit. I could never forget the moment.
On 9/11 when the first plane hit I was driving home from the gym listening to Howard Stern on 92.3 K-Rock after doing 45 minutes on the elliptical in my Atlantic Blue Mustang for a Women’s Studies class at Rutgers. If I can remember that, he should be able to remember being a heroic first responder.
"September 11th was 25 years ago" -- Ted Cruz defends Trump lying about his response to 9/11 but suggesting he might not remember because it was so long ago

I've never felt like I wasted a vote except in this case. He did such good for Braddock, and was a solid Lt Gov, only to completely drop the ball once elected to the Senate.

I'm still holding on to the conspiracy theory that the GOP is blackmailing him somehow. Just for my own pride and sanity.

Every time you see a “millennials and Gen Z don’t [x thing, like owning a house or going out to dinner or broadway shows]”, go ahead and mentally substitute “can’t afford” for don’t. I have tons of friends who’d love to go to plays or mid-scale restaurants or buy napkins, but we are broke.

I don't think theres some larger conspiracy here to prevent us addressing them or anything, just that if we actually all pull together for really short periods of time, thats all it will actually take. We cannot allow a handful of greedy assholes to hold back our whole species

This is blowing my mind and is going to take more than one post to get out.
I'm a chef by trade. I took 2016 off from restaurant work after some burnout to "do something" with my life. This led to me working for various non-profits on campaigns throughout that year. That is how I met Dan Moraff...
Alarming story that confirms my own reporting along similar lines: Dan Moraff, the political strategist who plucked Graham Platner out of obscurity to run for senate and barely vetted him, was barred from Rep. Summer Lee’s 2022 campaign after three complaints of sexual misconduct.

In my experience, the wealthy fall into 2 groups: old and new money. Old money will (usually) never *not* be rich. This is big new money vibes. The folk whose financial philosophy is "can't make money by spending money". The kind that drop $500 on dinner and tip $5. I despise those people.
If you are wealthy, I think you should spend more money on clothes. There's no pride in buying clothes for the lowest possible price, as this puts downward pressure on garment worker wages and increases the likelihood of exploitation.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

The seventh richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

See the problem here?

What is this trying to prove? That you could make Cheetos at home? Pretty sure all the "scary chemicals" at the end are what's included in enriched flour, which I believe the FDA requires them to use. There is nothing "non-natural" about anything that was shown in this video.

I did voter registration in 2016 and this was one of my biggest stumbling blocks. So many ppl also didn't realize you can vote every year. If you're angry about the fed, I get it, but vote local at least. No one starts in Congress. Those folks were elected locally first.
The only message not voting sends to a politician is that your opinion can be safely ignored because you will never hold them accountable. That's it.

You can tell yourself not voting is good for your personal brand or your moral well being, but never pretend it makes a difference in the real world.
If you believe that not voting sends a message, you’re wrong. It just shows you’re out of touch. If you want change, you must go to the voting booth.

Voting is your constitutional right to make changes to your government. Register to vote, help a neighbor, help someone get ID and register to vote
