People when you say a city needs more garbage cans: Yeah sounds fair would probably help

People when you say Japanese cities need more garbage cans: WHY DO YOU HATE JAPAN HAULING YOUR OWN TRASH IS AN ANCIENT JAPANESE CUSTOM*

(*circa 1996)
The news is sure to rekindle arguments about garbage cans in Japan. Most cities have few public garbage cans, having removed them after the 1995 sarin attack. But studies suggest that having public receptacles reduces littering.

Does Japan Need More Garbage Cans - or Fewer Trashy Tourists? - Unseen Japan
Would more garbage cans help Japan's growing trash problem? It might - but there may also be other solutions.

The thing about trying not to pick a side is that the nazis *instantly recognize* which side you picked. They immediately identify you as an ally. They know exactly what side you're on.

It doesn't fool the victims, it doesn't fool the Nazis, the only people it could possibly fool is centrists.

#LFC fans just slaughtering Wirtz constantly and I'm like... what do you want? He's running, pressing, winning the ball and creating chances.
I think too many people are caught up with the price tag and expecting him to be Messi. He's a great young player who's had struggles, but he will come good.

Fourth game on the bounce now that Wirtz has covered the most ground. £116m marathon man because the midfield don't have the profiles/brains for a double pivot.

More like Masafumi GOAToh amirite???
Gotoh Masafumi of Asian Kung-Fu Generation put ¥75.6 million in crowdfunding and donations into turning a 130-year-old tea storehouse in Shizuoka into a recording studio. It's run by an NPO that rents to struggling artists at half the normal rates so bands can afford to fail.

Enjoyed reading about how Richard Hughes wanted Nuno Mendes and that but would be nice if The Athletic could do one of those deep dives into why he thought it was best for business to give Grav and Dom new, improved deals.

One of my favourite bits of his is admitting that yes, workers are exploited - but it's okay because capital makes everyone's lives better

A lot of what Marx does is following up on this a generation or three later, going "Does it though?"

Britain, a land where you are forever on the hook for binmen not picking up rubbish for a fortnight, years before you were born, and your leaders pretend they didn’t spend the entire 21st century getting every major decision catastrophically wrong with devastating consequences.

There’s such an easy answer to this “gotcha” question and it’s “Sports are inherently unsafe and unfair and it’s ridiculous to single out trans athletes when we allow 150 pound linebackers to go up against 260 pound linemen in freshman football on a daily basis. Let kids play with their friends.”
Talarico: "I oppose trans athletes playing in girls' sports if it endangers safety or fairness"

Meet the new season, same as the old season.
Nottingham Forest should not have been awarded a penalty at Liverpool for Alisson's challenge on Neco Williams, the KMI Panel has said.

But the KMI Panel also added that it did not reach the threshold for the VAR to overturn the on-field decision.

For me Justin Webb is the voice of the BBC across the last ten years. The tone, the content, the essence of the BBC in its political coverage is captured in his whine, his inability to deal with the world as it is now.

Oh look, it turns out that successive British governments have been “feigning helplessness” over Israel’s criminality and have merely been “paying lip service” to a peaceful resolution. Exactly like we’ve been saying they were for years. And all it took to notice was the government doing something.
