Only nine years ago, #VictoriaBC Canada opened our first protected bike and roll lane (in photo). The City has been transformed in less than a decade, and new crosswalks and bike lanes are under construction in my neighborhood now. Choices, not excuses! #yyj

And can we point out that building density in cities protects existing INTACT forest ecosystems by delaying or preventing further suburban sprawl?
Enough with the FALSE CHOICE between increasing infill density or increasing the urban tree canopy. BOTH are not only possible, but absolutely necessary. Good design is the key. The real design challenge isn’t building density or the space needed for trees… it’s the space we still surrender to cars.
