ICE Has Been Dumping Protester Photos Into a Palantir Database
DHS agents not only tracked and intimidated people observing ICE activity in Maine, but stored information about them in a Palantir-built database, newly unsealed court filings say.

If you're a woman who plays EA Sports CFB or Madden, I wanna talk to you! And if you're a woman who loves football and don't play those games, I also wanna hear from you!

Working on a piece on football, the sports video games, and well, US!

Calligraphy class was somewhat tainted by listening to fully grown adults talking about how their kids are using AI to do homework and shit, and how they use it themselves for EVERYTHING, and while I had a minor crash-out (politely) they were undeterred.

A new federal rule weakens the Endangered Species Act by redefining "harm" to wildlife.

This change makes it much harder to protect the habitats that endangered species need to survive.

Tell Congress to undo this change and protect endangered species here: mbayaq.co/4xSPQUZ

animals will roll over and expose their most sensitive organs to you because they love and trust you. that’s what it means when your dog or cat flops over. its not just cute. its the ultimate statement of faith in you, a mysterious giant with godlike power over their lives
i challenge you to post one optimistic take or belief today on bluesky

this needn’t be toxic positivity, just good ol’ run of the mill optimism/hope in the face of a torrential downpour of doom
look, i’m sorry for injecting some boring optimism into the discourse, someone’s gotta do it!

This might be a very spicy take but I think the death penalty is a travesty, but if we insist on killing people it should be done quickly and humanely?

Press release I woke up to, on Christa Pike’s condition (sent 9/30 at 11:36pm ET)

There is something deeply wrong with trying to kill a person twice, then sending her to a hospital for life saving measures so that they can try to kill her again.
Christa Pike, who was supposed to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years, is still alive after the state tried and failed to execute her on Wednesday. TDOC officials refused to comment after the state’s second failed execution this year.

This makes how the news reports regarding this botched execution all having such a blase description of "well she was snoring" extra disturbing.

No mention of agonal breathing in an article local to tennessee. The writing gave a shrug of, "seemed fine" when the situation is anything but.
agonal breathing is not real breathing and sounds like snoring or gasping and happens when someone is suffering a major medical emergency like a cardiac arrest

This would be the equivalent of sports coverage devoting itself to reporting on gambling markets instead of the game. Because real reporting on real stories is hard.

why is it that women always have to be the first to speak up. men don’t face professional consequences for making allegations. why must we bear further psychological trauma in an attempt to have merely a chance at justice

I feel the need to note that the Romans don't really present 'power' (potentia, vis) as their chief virtue.

Instead, the Romans were "always harping on fides ['faith, trust']" (Dioc. Sic. 23.1); Cicero gives the virtue where Rome surpasses others as pietas (piety, Cic. Har. resp. 9.19).
Hegseth: "We need students of western civilization and the pillars of our republic. Leaders who understand the faith of Jerusalem, the philosophy of anthems -- Athens. The power of Rome, and the freedom of Philadelphia circa 1776."
