People who are unfamiliar with the UCMJ may not realize that for an active duty major to do this in uniform, the consequence can be court martial and incarceration. All of it is prohibited, but the wearing of the uniform was an intentional choice, and a likely forfeit of both his career and freedom.

A week or so ago I was working on my presentation on Aya of Yopougon (for the French class I take) when, to my shock, I found out about the death of its illustrator, Clément Oubrérie. A talented artist with so much visual verve and imagination.

POOR FONT CHOICE ADVENTURE FUNNIES.

I'm like 80% sure this idea came out of one of our weekly meetings for lunch at the downtown Taco Stand. I wish I could remember some of our stupid ideas that didn't make it into his comics.
This is a standard adventure story but all of the dialog is written in nearly unreadable fonts. You can kind of make it our in this image, but when it was printed in Flagpole Magazine, it was on newsprint and a little smaller and ended up being impossible to read.

The Daring Adventures of Count Frankenmummy
Panel 1: Count Frankenmummy, a detective who is a vampire and a mummy and also a frankenstein, stands across from a desk in an office. The man behind the desk says "Well, Count Frankenmummy, the bank robbers were described as wearing spacesuits. Any leads?" Panel 2: Count Frankenmummy, puctured from the chest up, replies "MMMBLAH!" Panel 3: the man behind the desk points at Count Frankenmummy and saus "Dammit, I was told that you were the best in the detective field! You're off this case!" The Count replies "MMMMBLAH!" Panel 4: A man standing outside the police station says "Aw, poor Count Frankenmummy! He's not doing so good!" Panel 5: The same man looking over his shoulder, says "I hope he remembers to write down what he wants to say since no one can understand his cryptic monster moanings!" Panel 6: We're back in the office. The man behind the desk is watching Count Frankenmummy write a note. The man says "What's this? You're writing me a note? Did you figure out who robbed the bank?" A "thought bubble" picturing a light bulb rises from The Count's head. Panel 7: A close-ip of the note Count Frankenmummy has written. It reads, in crude handwriting, "YOUR MOMMA"

Hey! Didja Hear the One About the Farmer's Daughter
Okay, the gag here is that a guy tells the classic "farmer's daughter" joke but in this version the titular daughter is an octopus and the tentacles of the octopus emerge from the 3rd panel and obscure all of the other panels, including the art and dialog, in the rest of the comic.

"Like Every Second Monday of Every Month: The Fabulous Thunderbirds Fan Club Meets at 253 Oak Street / Big Space Pole"
Okay, this one's a long one.... The top comic is the one about the Fabulous Thunderbirds fan club. Panel 1: A guy is behind a podium addressing a crowd. He says "Wow, so does anybody have any stories about the F.T.B.s?" A shadowy figure in the crowd replies "Sure! 'Twist the Knife' is an overlooked classic! Panel 2: Another guy in the crowd says "Seeing that guy in the 'Wrap It Up' video inspired me to grow a mustache!" the guy next to him says "Me too! Whoa!" From off-panel a voice yells "ALRIGHT! BREAK IT UP!" Panel 3: A yeti wearing a bucket hat and overalls enters the room. Someone in the crowd (unseen) yells "HILLBILLY YETI!" The Hillbilly Yeti (a character of which, I am proud to say, I am a co-creator) yells "Yeah, that's right! I just wanna say that The Fabulous Thunderbirds SUCK!" Offscreen, the gathered fan club responds with a gasp. Comic 2, "Big Space Pole" Panel 1: Two scientists talk to each other. One says "We have built a pole that's billions of miles long carrying a sign to communicate with aliens!" The second scientist replies "Amazing!" Panel 2: The first scientist says "The sign is our way of reaching out across the stars. It is truly a scientific triumph."The second scientist asks "What does the sign say?" Panel 3: In space, we see the top of the big space pole. The sign is an image of Calvin (from "Calvin and Hobbes") urinating on the word "ALIENS." Nearby, a spaceship hovers with a word ballon that says "!?"

Tiny Porn Comix / The Boot
Two comics strips. The top one is called "Tiny Porn Comix" It's a series of panels that vaguely suggest sexual activity, but they're drawn comically small. You gotta understand that Patrick also knew that the final version would be printed on newsprint, further degrading the sharpness of the image and making the "porn" even more incomprehensible. the second comic is canned "the Boot" in the first pane, a guy is kneeling by a shovel, and he is holding a map. He sings "I found a treasure map! It was a piece of Crap! There was no buried loot! Just an old leather boot!" In the second panel, the same guy sits on a couch. The guy is holding a remote control. The "ole leather boot" is beside him. The guy sings "The boot came home with me. We sat and watched TV. The boot liked M*A*S*H* a lot, the one with the robot." In the 3rd panel, another guy (who looks alarmingly like me... Patrick would do this sometimes and it never ceased to amuse me) comes in from the right side of the panel and says to the guy on the couch "Paul, quit singing. There never was a robot in M*A*S*H*.You're just high again!"

The NYT literally rewrote Trump saying “open the fuckin’ strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell” as:

“Mr. Trump issued a new ultimatum to Iran to end its chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz”
NYT: President Trump on Sunday escalated his threats to bomb Iranian power plants within the next two days and taunted the country’s leaders in an expletive-laden social media post. Mr. Trump, seemingly emboldened by the successful U.S. rescue of an American airman in Iran over the weekend, issued a new ultimatum to Iran to end its chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz, a major Persian Gulf waterway for the transport of oil and gas, by Apr. 6. If Iran’s government did not, he said, U.S. forces would target the country’s energy infrastructure, which supplies power for millions of civilians. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran.
