The UK's June heatwave caused a £2.4bn hit to productivity, says a new report

It says the cost of extreme heat could reach £6bn/yr by 2030

Interesting, bc we tend to focus on the cost of cutting emissions, rather than cost of failing to do so…

I am not in general a pedant nor - except spasmodically - a prescriptivist. But, on electoral verbs: in England candidates _stand_ for office. Americans run. I would like to see this distinction maintained.

The bike-and-pedestrian reforms of those celebrated cities cover small areas that were already 15-minute cities. For the non-downtown-elite 90%, the transformative policy that will carry the most societal and ecological benefit will be electrifying private transportation with green grids
Very interesting new study finding that *even in large European cities*, in most places it is easier to access opportunities by car than by public transport arxiv.org/pdf/2604.01019

The exceptions are Paris, Zurich and the innermost parts of Milan and Barcelona

Hate-filled fake videos about London are everywhere. We've obtained a recording of a TikToker confessing to secretly filming Londoners in their homes for clicks.

He says it's not political. He just wants to make money from far-right anger.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

This is actually a weirdly boring time to specialize in International Relations because there's no actual intellectual substance to any of this. Like, yeah, man. Shit's fucked. Fucker's nutso. That sort of insight is why I'm a fancy-pants political scientist you should all respect and consult.
