I am so looking forward to partnering with CM Whiting toward our shared goal of thriving Minneapolis Public Schools! CM Whiting has shown his dedication toward our public school students through his role as Washburn coach, and he has already been showing up for our public schools in meaningful ways.

Complaints have limited legal value outside their case, but the one suing for the murder of Renee Good is an important cultural document. It tracks a grand opera of horror and hate that culminated in the death of a woman at the hands of her government.

Yesterday I was proud to stand with @mfelocal59.bsky.social in support of our public schools! The speeches from our MPS community about why their schools are so foundational to their community were moving and emotional. Particularly the remarks from Wellstone and Longfellow students struck me.

Getting a pop up ad on YouTube about an AI agent that can monitor your child’s online activity while I’m trying to watch a press conference where MPS is attempting to justify closing 15 schools.

Maybe the most dystopian thing to happen to me in a while.

You’re telling me we did the Parks n Rec episode?
"Father Hennepin Discovering the Falls of St. Anthony", by historicist Douglas Volk, a founder of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Specifically commissioned for the Minnesota State Capitol in 1905, the huge painting is so racist it was removed and put into a special timeout room in 2017.

remember when the University of Minnesota agreed to pay consultants $15 million for brand bullshit and their first effort was a slogan so bad they dropped it 3 months later? please note for when UMN claims they need to cut my $78k salary which goes towards suing bad landlords on the students' behalf

Making executive branch officials available to answer questions and follow-ups, in public, is the lowest possible bar for government. Frey says it creates a "spectacle" and a "circus."

Since Tuesday I have been connecting with parents and caregivers whose kids' schools could be affected by this "Transformation Plan." Our communities are already feeling the toll. We cannot rush into this.

I've spent today talking to parents & educators who feel abandoned by district leadership. The district hasn’t considered the real impact this will have on our communities. How many families will leave our district? Is there any positive impact their proposals would have on our financial situation?

MPS proposed three different options for a "Transformation Plan" last night. A plan centered around closures as the main strategy is a non-starter. Our MPS kids deserve a plan that treats them as more than numbers on a spreadsheet. Read it here: www.startribune.com/mps-16-schoo...

The most annoying part of this article is how the author manages to sound like he’s looking down his nose at you the entire time you’re reading it.

Lecturing people on stuff like this does not matter to them. People have already made the calculus themselves and decided differently.
The Vice President of Editorial Innovation, which today I learned is a real job… is Pro-Data Center.

I am going to fight these Oligarchs, and those that carry water for them, with every fiber of my being.

Not in my People’s Republic of Northeast, buddy.
Data centers can be built responsibly
We're not having a full, balanced conversation about the risks and potential benefits of data centers in Minnesota.

Chughtai says MPD was ready to present today but was directed by the mayor not to.

Thank you to the community for coming together on this one. Your voices were heard loud and clear.

Let’s not squander this momentum! We have an opportunity to push for more regulations through the comment period and public hearing October 13th!

Celebrate this win, today. Back to work tomorrow.
the prospect north loop data center in the old star tribune building is dead. legacy has terminated its purchase agreement for the site

there’s been a lot of organizing by north loop residents against this, hope many take this as their entry to being civically active

I am very much so currently dealing with this right now. I have a big request they have been constantly slow rolling and trying to misdirect me on.

And another open one that they answered for the CM whose records I requested. But so far nothing from the mayor’s office for the same request….
If I hadn't taken my new job, I was about to put my private practice all in on public records lawsuits. The City of Minneapolis has been wantonly violating the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act for years, basically taunting us while they do it. So much low-hanging fruit.
the city of minneapolis had to pay the star tribune $31,500 to settle public records lawsuits already this year... what a waste of taxpayer dollars and they're apparently risking even more by continuing to refuse to hand over data
